Room Design for Two Boys – Adapted for a Child with Autism

When designing a shared bedroom for two brothers, one of whom has autism, our main goal was to create a safe, comfortable, and functional space that supports both relaxation and play.

Key design elements:

• Bunk bed – A sturdy and secure structure with protective railings, designed to meet the needs of a neurodivergent child.
• Sensory adaptations – Soft, noise-reducing materials, rounded edges, and a designated calm area for relaxation.
• Colour scheme – A carefully selected palette of neutral and pastel tones to avoid overstimulation.
• Functional zones – A well-structured layout with dedicated areas for sleeping, learning, and play, catering to both boys' needs.

This project successfully creates a balanced environment that supports the well-being of a child with autism while remaining practical and enjoyable for his sibling.
